Gray Community Hall

M+J were contracted by City of Palmerston to build the this multi-use facility in Gray.

Bringing the community together

M+J were thrilled to work on this exciting project for the City of Palmerston, with funding from the Federal Government.


The Gray Community is a multi-purpose facility with the goal of bringing the community together. The custom-built space will cater to an eclectic mix of community activities, from parties and graduations to bingo nights and swing dancing.


The community will be able to enjoy the cool and dry indoors, or make the most of the outside areas including lush grass and a BBQ space.

Project outcomes

Here's what M+J completed:


  • Cement sheet – painted using eco tone to create a timber look ceiling

  • High internal ceilings with Acoustic perforated plasterboard
  • Feature concrete externally – including coloured pigment concrete & exposed aggregate
  • Planter boxes
  • Landscaping with local and strong NT plants and new irrigation system
  • Spotted Gum timber floors
  • Feature tiles in bathrooms
  • Colourbond steel externally in Basalt
  • Disabled access bathroom
  • Edge double BBQ with sink
  • Separation glass panels to spaces so the hall can be used by 2 different user groups at a time

M+J Builders recently upgraded the HVAC system at Darwin International Airport. The existing air-cooled chillers were nearing the end of their end of life, prompting the construction of a new Eastern Chiller Plant.
